Brandon A. Best, MSFS, MBA, FA/TM/GSR-AFTE

Brandon Best is the owner and Chief Forensic Scientist of Best Forensics. He began his forensic career at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS) where he was assigned to the Firearms & Toolmarks Section. While at ADFS, Brandon was stationed at the Montgomery and then Birmingham Regional Laboratories; serving nine years with the State. Mr. Best has examined over 1,300 cases, accounting for over 15,000 items of evidence, testifying over 90 times in Circuit Court. Mr. Best holds a BS in Laboratory Science from Auburn University; a MS in Forensic Science from UAB; a MBA from LSU Shreveport; and holds all three (FA/TM/GSR) certifications offered by The Association of Firearms and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE). 

Dancy Sullivan, BS, BA

Dancy Sullivan is a Senior Scientist and Director of Defense Services at Best Forensics. She began her career as a Firearms Examiner with ADFS, where she achieved the position of Firearms & Tool Marks Section Chief of the Birmingham Regional Laboratory where she was also a sworn APOST officer. After thirteen years with ADFS, Dancy found better opportunities as a Firearms Examiner at the newly created Tuscaloosa Police Department Forensic Services Division where she served another three years. Mrs. Sullivan received her BS in Biology from The University of Alabama and her BA in Education from The University of Montevallo.  

Dan Matteo, MSFS, ABC-DA (Emeritus)

Dan Matteo is a Senior Scientist and Advisor at Best Forensics. Dan brings over 25 years of forensic science experience in Drug Chemistry and Crime Scene Investigation; where he obtained certification in both. Mr. Matteo achieved the position of Drug Chemistry Section Chief of the Birmingham Regional Laboratory and was a sworn APOST officer. Dan received his BS in Biology with a double minor in chemistry and criminal justice from The University of North Texas and his MS in Forensic Science from UAB. After retiring, Dan continues to lecture at UAB in the BS and MS programs, as well as founding forensic courses at Samford University.   

Mallory Armstrong

Mallory Armstrong is currently an intern with Best Forensics while she completes her BS in Chemistry at UAB. She is an aspiring Firearms Examiner and currently trains as an evidence technician with Best Forensics.
